Rooted in Egypt
Designed with regeneration in mind
We aim to set a new standard in the industry by modeling radical transparency and designing with end-of-life solutions at the forefront. From farm to mill, factory to finished product, our collections are made in a regional supply chain in Egypt from the highest quality materials sourced with biodegradable potential in mind.
Our work supports a new generation of regenerative cotton farmers in Egypt who are applying ancestral wisdom and biodynamic techniques to restore fertility to landscapes negatively affected by the damming of the Nile river and modern agriculture.
Origins
Nazeerah means “the observer”, “the fruitful giver”. Nazeerah provides a message from generations past and a call to a bigger purpose.
Our Co-Founder, Emily, first traveled to Egypt when she was 10 years old to experience her father’s homeland. It was there that she learned that the art of making clothing was a strong part of her Egyptian lineage. As a child, her father picked cotton after school; her grandfather was a broker who helped local farmers sell their cotton to the neighboring factories; and her grandmother, Nazeerah, was a seamstress who made, repaired, and altered clothing for the people in her village.
Nazeerah lived in a time where the Nile provided essential nutrients to the land and the cotton was grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Despite being a woman in a society dominated by men, she forged her own path for the sake of supporting her family. In the process, her work contributed to the lives of many.
At Nazeerah, we’re inspired by her legacy, and by women everywhere who challenge convention with the inherent knowledge of their connection to all things.
